Marilyn Cornwell: From Snapshot to Great Shot in Garden and Flower Photography
Find out the tips and techniques of floral and garden photography and enjoy photographs of beautiful flowers and wonderful gardens along the way. The keys to beautiful floral photography are covered. Then the techniques for great garden images are covered through a variety of sizes and types of gardens. Included is my own garden story with my Toronto garden’s antique conservatory greenhouse shown through the seasons. The emphasis is on the techniques for great compositions rather than technical aspects of cameras and equipment. You learn by touring public and private gardens that are designed well. In these gardens a good image becomes much clearer to the average person. Gardens include Longwood Gardens, Chanticleer, Toronto Botanical Gardens, Royal Botanical Gardens, and private gardens, such as the garden of noted horticulturalist Frank Kershaw.
Bio:
Marilyn Cornwell is a gardener and photographer living in Grimsby Ontario, in the heart of Niagara Wine Country. She spent the last thirty years in the world of IT and management consulting. In 2008, she started her second career as a garden photographer. While she maintains a foot in the consulting world, her main activities are gardening and photography. Her garden activities included moving her antique conservatory greenhouse from Toronto to Grimsby.
Marilyn’s photographic work is about colour, pattern, and form. She recently exhibited her work at the Toronto Botanical Gardens. Her series "Marvelling the Mushroom" drew great interest. This series explores the intricate and graceful patterns to be found in this fascinating plant. Other series look at the world of urban decay and grunge to create abstract images.
