Annual General Meeting: Elections & Guest Speaker Tom Bochsler, The Changing World of Photography

May 1, 2018 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Rotary Room
1333 Lakeshore Rd
ON L7S 1A9

Guest speaker Tom Bochsler is a pioneering commercial photographer based in Hamilton since 1950. Tom will reflect on his years with BP Imaging and the wide variety of subject matter in his recent book and show, The Art of Industry. Tom calls the book a photo-biography:

"The early part of the book includes a variety of press and PR photos, which was much of what I photographed for the several medias and company news papers in the 1950’s and 60’s. Industrial photography was challenging and satisfying because I was able to create images that my clients didn’t believe were possible. I achieved this through lighting, composition and usually including a worker doing what was technical correct and safe too. I use a phrase that describes a lot of industry photography in that era, ‘dirty, dark and dangerous’.

The book's origin comes from prompting by some of my great clients and my wish to create a photo-biography of my work experiences and opportunities as a photographer and more specifically as an industrial photographer." The book will be available for purchase.

The AGM part of the meeting is Latow's annual opportunity to hear from the Board and elect new members. This year, we need to elect three Directors and the President. And we need to consider a Bylaw change that adds to the duties of the Vice-President by requiring that person to be a member of the Program Committee. A quorum is essential for these votes. If you cannot make it to the meeting in person, you can complete a proxy form and give it to a friend or to the Secretary, Ron Savoline.
