Presented in the Art Gallery of Burlington - Fireside Room

David Low

Latow Photographers Guild

Meet the Artist - October 17th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for a discussion of the works, and thoughts on Serendipitous Photography.

“When you first meet another photography enthusiast (and now everyone is, with cellphonography), one of the first questions will be, what type of photography do you like to shoot?  The answer will range from sports, to portrait, to street photography, still life, family, landscape, action, nature and beyond.  I’ve struggled to define an answer to the question but would call mine Serendipitous Photography.

Serendipity is defined as ‘an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident’.  My definition of ‘Serendipitous Photography’ departs from the traditional; it is developing an awareness of beautiful or interesting things around you and attempting to portray them as photographic art.  It is always driven by looking for more than the usual.  It may be that instantaneous moment in time or it may take several years to germinate and refine an idea.

"This installation is a collection of works over several years, each with a story.”   David

There will be a draw for one of David’s works at 7:20 p.m. and visitors will be invited to attend a 7:30 Latow presentation by one of the area’s top photographers, Paul Sparrow, on “Dynamic Range”.
